Artist's sketch of proposed new
Archival Center
The Carmel Clay Historical Society is planning a new Archival Center to
house it's one-of-a-kind original source materials (letters, diaries,
journals, account books, photographs, documents and other items) which have
been donated by local citizens and former residents.
What is an Archival Center? It is a dust free and
humidity/temperature controlled storage building which has archival standard
fire protection. Items are stored in non-acid files and boxes.
Researchers, students, and the general public will be invited to use our
collections in this new Center when it is completed.
Why do we need this new Archival Center? The
space we currently use for storage of our collections is full and also needs
to be upgraded to meet archival standards and assure the safety of these
materials.
Please join Carmel Clay residents and businesses who are contributing to
the building of a new home for our collections of local history materials.
Donations should be sent to 211 First St. SW, Carmel, IN 46032. Construction
will begin as soon as $125,000 is raised. Your contributions will be publicly acknowledged and major donor's names
placed on a plaque on the building. |
