History of 22 N. Range Line Road

Last November, we did a presentation on the History of 22 N. Range Line Road, and now it’s back by popular demand! join Indiana Artisan and Carmel Clay Historical Society for an evening of stories about the building. The event will be held at 22 N. Range Line Road on March 1 at 7 p.m. Registration is required for this free event, and seating is limited. Parking is available on the street or in parking garages.

Every building in Old Town Carmel has a rich history, and the Indiana Artisan Gifts and Gallery building located at 22 N. Range Line Road is no exception. The land was first owned by Charles Ketchum, a member of the Lenape tribe in this area, in 1829. The first structure was built in 1870. As the ownership changed, the historical significance grew. Since 1913, this structure has housed a dry goods store, a hatchery, furniture and appliances store, and Brown’s Drug Store. Former employees and family members will share their memories of the building when it was Gilbert’s Pharmacy.
